If you feel yourself reaching for a coffee to give you a boost mid afternoon, I hear y’a. But this smoothy will give you a much better kick of energy and also be incredibly nourishing to your body.

Give this recipe a go, and it’ll give you some go back!
What’s in this smoothy that gives you such a kick?
The most significant energy ingredient in this energy boosting blueberry smoothy is the MCT oil. If you’ve never heard of it before here’s a little list of why it’s now an essential item in my pantry!

- MCT is super high in fatty acids which are very important for brain function. The body needs fatty acids to keep the brain sharp and focused. MCT oil is super easy for the body to absorb and so it give the body and instant energy and clarity boost.
- Aides in digestion and also in helping to balance gut bacteria, with antimicrobial and antifungal effects.
- Aides in the absorption of vitamins and minerals
- Helps with weight management
- Shown to increase the release of hormones (peptide YY and leptin) that promote the feeling of fullness

It’s a super food. And with no taste or smell it’s really easy to add to your smoothies and other foods without you even noticing it’s there.
If you’re new to it, read the directions of use and start small then work your way up to having more and more. The bottle recommends to start with 1 teaspoon a day at first and work your way up. For this recipe I have said 1 tablespoon, but start with 1 teaspoon if you’re new to it.

Another great product I’m using in this recipe is the Nes Proteins Grass Fed Collagen Powder. This is a great, low taste collagen supplement. I especially love it in my coffees and smoothies as it adds a creaminess that’s really yum and also so good for you. It’s great for your skin, hair and nails, but also your joints and bones and muscles. Most importantly and why I mostly take it is for the benefits it offers to your digestive system.
